Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library

In late 2023, The Friends of WRL launched a fundraising campaign to support the natural playground at the James City County Library. This second phase of the wildly popular Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio (see below for details on that project), will bring the idea of an innovative play and learning area to the outdoors in a way that stimulates children’s imagination, cognitive skills, and development in a natural environment.

The Friends of WRL engaged in a capital campaign in 2019 to fund the Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio at the James City County Library. This renovated children’s room is an interactive and hands-on learning space.

In 2017, the Friends of WRL completed a capital campaign on behalf of the library, in support of the Stryker Center. The campaign contributed toward the cost of the library facilities in the Stryker Center.  The campaign also set as a goal to increase the Friends of WRL Foundation’s Endowment by $150,000. This helps our library to continue to invest in excellence in perpetuity. The campaign raised more than $760,000 in gifts and pledges.
