Open Book Discussion: There There

January 27 @ 7:00 pm

One Book One Community Logo

This event is part of the One Book One Community partnership between Williamsburg Regional Library and William & Mary. The month-long series will include a January 24 discussion with Tommy Orange, author of the Pulitzer Prize finalist There There. His novel examines the lives of 12 different Native Americans in the week leading up to the first Oakland Powwow, and the events that will engulf them all. This one-time discussion group will be discussing Tommy Orange’s There There after his January 24 visit. In the runup to the Big Oakland Powwow, 12 Native Americans living in the city prepare for the event. Some are reconnecting to their roots, some to their families, and some are hoping to make a new start. Though they voice their hopes and pains as individuals, their stories will collide in inescapable chaos. Tommy Orange will be visiting the Williamsburg Library January 24; see the calendar for more events connected to the book.
Williamsburg Regional Library will provide copies of There There. If you can’t find a copy on the shelves, check with the Adult Services reference desk to find out how to get yours.
