Glenn Close Film Series • The World According to Garp

Garp is a man whose life unfolds from cradle to grave in counterpoint to the dizzy, violent, cruel and casually destructive rhythms of our anxious age. While Garp sees himself as a "serious" writer, his mother Jenny (played by Glenn Close) writes a feminist manifesto at an opportune time, and finds herself as a magnet for all manner of distressed women.

Rated R, 136 minutes, 1982

This series of films featuring William and Mary alum Glenn Close is presented in conjunction with the Muscarelle Museum of Art’s exhibit, “Glenn Close: A Life in Costume,” running through January 12, 2014.
