Presented in conjunction with the Muscarelle Museum of Art’s exhibit, “Glenn Close: A Life in Costume,” running through January 12, 2014.

Albert Nobbs struggles to survive in late 19th century Ireland, where women aren't encouraged to be independent. Posing as a man, so she can work as a butler in Dublin's most posh hotel, Albert meets a handsome painter and looks to escape the lie she has been living. The film received three Oscar nominations, including best performance by an actress in a leading role for Glenn Close.

Rated R for some sexuality, brief nudity and language; 113 minutes (2011)

Williamsburg Regional Library presents the Celtic Film Series in cooperation with the local chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.  The series explores the history, drama and quirky humor of films made in or about Ireland and the Irish.
